# SOP 16 · Waste and destruction

Cannabis waste, including returned product, expired product, trim and failed batches, is rendered unusable by mixing it with at least an equal weight of non-cannabis waste such as soil or kitty litter.

Weigh the waste before and after mixing, record both weights and the package tags in the waste log, and have a second person witness and initial the entry. Report the destruction in the state tracking system.
